1. Overview

Focus Cat for YouTube is a browser extension that helps you limit your daily YouTube watch time and remove on-screen distractions. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the extension collects and how it is used.

2. Data Collected and Stored Locally

All usage data is stored locally on your device using the Chrome storage.local API and is never transmitted to any server.

• Daily watch time — cumulative seconds watched on YouTube today, reset each midnight.
• User settings — your configured daily limit, mode (Soft / Hard), and any time extensions granted.
• License key (Pro users only) — stored locally after activation. Never logged or shared.

3. Data Sent to External Servers

The extension contacts our backend (https://focus-cat-api.vercel.app) only in the following two cases:

• License activation — when you enter a license key, the key is sent to our API to verify it with Lemon Squeezy and register the activation on your device.
• License deactivation — when you click "Deactivate", the key is sent to release the activation.

No personal information (name, email, IP address) is stored by our API. The key is forwarded to Lemon Squeezy's API for validation and immediately discarded.

4. Data We Do NOT Collect

• No browsing history or YouTube watch history
• No analytics or usage telemetry
• No crash reports
• No personal identifiers of any kind

5. Third-Party Services

Lemon Squeezy processes payments and issues license keys. When you purchase the Pro tier, Lemon Squeezy collects payment information per their own Privacy Policy. Focus Cat does not receive or store your payment details.

6. Permissions Used

• storage — save settings and watch-time data locally.
• alarms — schedule the daily midnight reset.
• tabs / windows — detect when YouTube is active to pause/resume time tracking.

The extension only operates on www.youtube.com pages.

7. Children's Privacy

Focus Cat for YouTube is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes.
